About Us
Junior Academies was proposed and developed by a group of educators with over ninety years of public, private, parochial and home-school experience. The basis of Junior Academies is a simple one - to provide a year round equitable education for all children, with an enhanced focus in the development of higher order thinking skills in reading, writing and mathematics.
The founders believe that parents are the primary teachers of their children and have been disappointed over the years with their local public schools. Although there is no question that there are many public schools that provide excellence in education, for the most part, parents cannot randomly choose to send their child(ren) to those excellent schools.
Private schools are an option, however, they are quite expensive and for many, admission to a private school is centered around a test, IQ score, or parent’s ability to pay. Many talented students are denied admission due to their parent's economic position or the fact that they do not score high enough on a test given on one magic day.
Out of frustration, many parents take the education of their children into their own hands and educate them at home. Although most state laws allow this option to parents, they do not require the local schools to assist parents, provide for the use of school facilities, open clubs, sports or activities to the home-school children in their districts.
The twenty-first century is giving parents another choice in the education of their K-12 children. There are countless home -school programs available as well as the new growth of virtual programs which colleges and universities have utilized for years.
Junior Academies is an accredited program that offers families a school facility, a teacher and all of the same privileges students would receive if they were to attend a local public school, only from the comforts of their home.
Parents are part of the educational planning team for their child(ren) and are involved in every decision process.
